OPA Water System Improvement Projects
Project Overview
When the consolidation between the Irvine Ranch Water District and the Orange Park Acres Mutual Water Company was completed in June 2008, IRWD started work on a Master Plan of improvements for the entire Orange Park Acres water system. The Master Plan includes the design of a new 20-inch transmission main on Chapman Avenue. This new water transmission line improves system reliability to the area by connecting the OPA system to an existing IRWD six million gallon reservoir. It will also provide better water pressure for most OPA customers. The construction of the permanent pipeline is scheduled to be completed in 2012. IRWD also completed several fire system improvements which, along with the water system upgrades, increased pipeline capacity, and improved reliability for emergency water service to these areas.
