BCD Tofu House
The BCD Tofu House story begins with Hee Sook Lee, a first-generation Korean American with a passion for cooking. After Mrs. Lee moved to America she focused on perfecting soon tofu, a type of smooth and tender cooked tofu with a mild, refined flavor, especially suitable for soups. To bring soon tofu to her community, in 1996 Mrs. Lee opened the original BCD Tofu House in Koreatown, Los Angeles. The BCD in the restaurant’s name stands for the “Bukchang Dong” district in Korea.
Today, BCD Tofu House Irvine is one of more than 13 individually-managed locations. The Irvine restaurant’s popularity has allowed it to expand and upgrade its kitchen equipment and fixtures. Due to their increased energy and water efficiency, these upgrades qualify BCD Tofu House to be an IRWD WaterStar.
