Crean Lutheran High School
Crean Lutheran High School in Irvine, a 2023 National Blue Ribbon School, earned IRWD’s WaterStar status based on the 9.2 million gallons of water it saves the community annually. How is this accomplished? The school’s facilities are dual-plumbed, all indoor fixtures are water-efficient — plus, recycled water is used to irrigate the campus landscaping, including the school’s athletic complex on Portola Parkway.
Crean Lutheran is one of eight high schools in the Pacific Southwest District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. It serves 959 students in grades 9-12 and reports a student-to-teacher ratio of 20-to-1.
From left, Dr. Daniel Moyer (Crean Lutheran High School Principal), IRWD's Senior Water Efficiency Specialist Allan Pascual, Dr. Jeffrey Beavers (CLHS Executive Director & Chief Executive Officer), Jacqlyn Sandoval (CLHS Director of Facilities), Will Robinson (CLHS Facilities Coordinator), and Ray Guerra (CLHS Facilities Technician) are presented with the WaterStar certification.
